Careers relating to the automotive service industry are the focus of this class that was once called “auto mechanics.” The program is NATEF certified in brakes, electrical/electronic systems, engine performance, and steering/suspension. In addition to these areas, training is also offered in automatic and manual transmissions, and heating and air conditioning.
The two-year course of study allows advanced students to participate in work-site learning to gain additional work experience. Instruction is meaningful, flexible, and adaptable to the needs of the industry, allowing students to enter the job market with broad transferable skills. The hands-on practice of working on projects adds to each student’s experience in this rapidly advancing field of mechanics.
This course is approved for up to four hours of college credit from Oklahoma State University–Okmulgee and up to 30 hours at Murray State College.
