Frequently Asked Questions

How will this help the local economy?
Students who complete a career major in technology centers can expect to earn significantly more than those with no education beyond high school. This allows us to meet the demands of new businesses who are looking to relocate in our area by providing a quality workforce.

Will this increase enrollment?
Absolutely! The goal is to increase our high school enrollment by 30%. These students will be able to take advantage of our quality training – TUITION FREE! It will also allow room for more adults to take advantage of a variety of career majors. This will enable us to provide additional training for our area companies that gladly pay a premium for our quality training and services.

Why are there 2 propositions?
The majority of the funds will be in the form of a $8.5m bond issue that will annually decrease until it expires in 6 years. There will also be a separate ballot question for some operational millage that will be needed to hire instructors and pay for supplies in the new programs. Both propositions are necessary to make the proposed project a reality.

How does SOTC compare in funding with other Tech Centers?
SOTC is currently ranked 24th of the 29 Oklahoma Technology Center districts in local support. Because of this, other monies are withheld from our district from time to time.
